Week of September 14 - 18, 2020

Dear Parents,

Key Information:

We've had a fun start to Grade 4. Last week we learned about the "Great Pacific Garbage Patch". We were saddened by all the trash in the oceans killing the sea animals. We will be looking at the 5 R's of zero waste this week. Feel free to ask your child about it.

We explored our Google Classroom today. The students are familiarizing themselves with the various subjects; Literacy, Math, Science, Humanities, Mindfulness and Art.

In math, we are looking at addition using single, double, and triple digit numerals. We will be learning math using a cyclical approach. On Mondays, we will look at Number, Patterns and Relations and Graphing. On Tuesdays, our focus will be on Number Sense. On Wednesday, we will spend time working on Number Operations. On Thursdays, our learning will involve, Shape/Space, Estimation and Measurement. Finally, on Fridays we will look closely at Word Problems and Critical Thinking skills. We will try to follow this cycle of learning throughout the year. Our class is doing a great job wearing masks and keeping our learning community safe. We look forward to blogging weekly.

Important Information:

- Please kindly send your child to school with a new mask daily.
- Practice IXL Math daily
- Read for 15 minutes daily.
- Meet the teacher night on September 24 - more information to follow
- NO SCHOOL on September 25 due to PD

Have a wonderful day!
